The barrel-aged version of Oskar Blues Brewery’s most popular stout is now shipping to retailers across the country.
That creation is Barrel-Aged Ten FIDY 2020, a 12.5 percent ABV imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels for approximately 11 months. After years of being available as a draft-only option, the barrel-aged stout debuted in 19.2-ounce cans in 2015 and continued to be released every year in the packaging option until 2019, when it was switched to 12-ounce cans.
“Ten FIDY Imperial Stout is a malt monster,” said Juice Drapeau, head brewer at Oskar Blues, in a press release. “Aging the beer for at least nine months in bourbon barrels ramps up both the complexity and ABV while mellowing out the finish. If I had a St. Bernard, I’d name him Oskar and train him to carry a barrel of BA Ten FIDY on his collar wherever we went. You know, for emergencies.”
According to the Longmont, Colo.-based brewery, Barrel-Aged Ten FIDY 2020 is packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce cans that are shipping to retailers nationwide now.
