According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Oskar Blues Brewery is working on releasing Death By Affogato, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with cacao, espresso bean, lactose and vanilla before being packaged in 12-ounce cans. The stout is meant to replicate the flavors of an affogato, which is a beverage/dessert hybrid consisting of cold vanilla gelato covered by hot espresso.
The Longmont, Colo.-based brewery has used the Death By moniker in the past, namely for Death By Coconut, a 6.5 percent ABV Irish porter brewed with coconut and pure liquid cacao made from cacao, water and coconut sugar that was sourced from Boulder-based Cholaca that debuted in 2014 and Death By Coffee, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with coffee. In addition, Oskar Blues filed a label for Death By King Cake, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with cacao nibs, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, pecans and vanilla in October.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
