According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Oskar Blues Brewery is working on releasing Death By Flapjacks, a 6.5 percent ABV ale brewed with lactose, lemon peel, nutmeg, maple syrup, vanilla and “natural flavors” that will be packaged in 12-ounce cans. While past incarnations using the Death By name have been porters, the label does not specifically say that for this release.
The Longmont, Colo.-based brewery has used the Death By moniker in the past, namely for Death By Coconut, a 6.5 percent ABV Irish porter brewed with coconut and pure liquid cacao made from cacao, water and coconut sugar that was sourced from Boulder-based Cholaca that debuted in 2014 and Death By Coffee, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with coffee.
In addition, Oskar Blues has confirmed it is releasing Death By King Cake, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with cacao nibs, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, pecans and vanilla this year and Death By Affogato, a 6.5 percent ABV porter brewed with cacao, espresso bean, lactose and vanilla in December while filing a label for Death By Peach, a 6.5 percent ABV ale brewed with cinnamon, peaches, lactose and vanilla.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
