After collaborating on a beer in 2014, Oskar Blues Brewery has now acquired Perrin Brewing Co.

Keith Klopcic, who helped facilitate the partnership between the two breweries, will act as president of Perrin Brewing. Klopcic is the former owner of West Side Beer Distributing.

“Challenging the craft collaboration concept and taking it to the next level with Keith and the Perrin crew is exciting,” said Dale Katechis, Oskar Blues founder, in a press release. “Growing Oskar Blues and engaging new communities across the country has been a ton of fun and has given us the experience we can bring to a partner like Perrin to hit the next gear.”

Perrin Brewing Co., which is located in Comstock Park, Mich., produced 14,000 barrels of beer in 2014, while Oskar Blues brewed close to 1500,000 barrels in 2014 and distributes to 42 states. Oskar Blues is located in Longmont, Colo.

Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“The state of Michigan has embraced Perrin and created something special. We’re taking the tradition we started with head brewer John Stewart and Jarred Sper to the next level by adding Keith and Oskar Blues to our team,” added Dan Perrin, Perrin operations manager.

In 2014, the two breweries collaborated on CORNLABORATION, a 5.8 percent ABV lager brewed with corn, full pint malt, German hops and Denmark lager yeast that was produced at Perrin by a team that included brewers from both companies.

An email sent to both breweries for more information was not immediately returned.
