Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Brewery Ommegang has received label approval for its new Gnomegeddon blonde ale.
Gnomegeddon blonde ale is a variation of Ommegang’s Gnomegang which undergoes a secondary bottle fermentation with Brettanomyces. After being bottled, Gnomegeddon is allowed to undergo three months of bottle fermentation before it is released.
The second fermentation with brettanomyces will add what many beer drinkers will recognize as “barnyard funk” to both the nose and flavor of the beer. Ommegang suggest not only trying this beer fresh, but allowing a bottle to age and continue fermenting.
Gnomegeddon has a 9.5 percent ABV and will be packaged in 750ml bottles. An attempt contact the brewery for more information was not answered.
