Back in January, Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Brewery Ommegang posted its release calendar for this year. One item of note, the 20th Anniversary Beer was slated for release in September. This week additional details about the beer came to light.

Ommegang’s 20th Anniversary Ale will be a “dark and rich Belgian-style ale celebrating two decades of Belgian-style brewing by Ommegang” according to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB).

The dark ale aged in bourbon barrels possesses “a deep mahogany hue, with aromas of oak, bourbon, caramel, toffee, molasses and caramel.” According to Ommegang, the 750ml bottle of beer will be ready for consumption when released, but also respond well to cellar aging.

In addition to individual bottles, the calendar indicates that a 20th Anniversary Gift Pack will also be released in September.

An email sent to Ommegang seeking further was not immediately returned.
