Olde Hickory Brewery of Hickory, N.C. is set to release Wavell Gun, a new 8.5 percent ABV Scotch ale. According to a post on Olde Hickory’s website, Wavell Gun is packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($20) and will be released on Saturday with a 12 bottle limit per person.
“Wavell Gunn is a Scotch Ale aged in 15 year Single Malt Scotch barrels, said Steven Lyerly, Olde Hickory’s brewer and co-owner, to Tenemu.
The beer’s label provides a bit more detail on the inspiration for the beer:
Wave Gunn is a nod to classic Highland scotch whisky. The beer is rich with caramel malt sweetness tamed by a mild earthiness. Subtle peat smoke, salty sea air, and whisky heat imparted from aging in scotch barrels provide Wavell Gunn with its resemblance to a fine scotch.
In addition, the brewery will also be releasing a new scotch barrel-aged stout on Friday named Dread Scott that is also packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($20) and will have a six bottle per person limit.
