Coming this June—a new rum-aged version of Olde Hickory’s Event Horizon.
Olde Hickory Brewery has told Tenemu that the new variant, which is scheduled to be released in “mid-June,” has spent over a year aging in the rum barrels. First released in 2010, the original version of Event Horizon is an 8.5 percent ABV stout that incorporates four different American hops varieties, 10 different types of malts and local honey before being aged in oak bourbon barrels. It is brewed only once a year, and released around the Thanksgiving holiday in 22-ounce bottles, although this year’s version was not released until last week.
The Hickory, N.C. brewery has not finalized all the details surrounding the rum-aged version, but it didi indicate that spices could be added to the beer.
