Odell Brewing Co.’s is releasing a new beer after the Persian word for its main ingredient next month.

According to Adam D’Antonio, spokesman for Odell, the Fort Collins, Colo.-based brewery will be releasing a new beer named Zard-Alu, a 6.8 percent ABV sour ale brewed with brettanomyces and lactobacillus and conditioned on apricots for three months. The name Zard-Alu is taken from the common moniker, zardalu, give to the apricot fruit in what is now southwest Iran.

In an email, D’Antonio told Tenemu that Zard-Alu will be packaged in corked and caged 750ml bottles and is scheduled to be released at an event on May 27.
