According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Small Town Brewery will be releasing Not Your Father’s Root Beer (5.9 percent ABV) in 12-ounce cans.

The Wauconda, Ill.-based brewery was founded by Tim Kovac in 2010, who had been home brewing for over two decades. According to the brewery, Not Your Father’s Root Beer is an ale brewed with wintergreen, sassafras bark, oak, vanilla, anise, and “a host of other spices.” Currently, the beer is sold in three different versions:  a 5.9 percent ABV version packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles, a 10.7 ABV limited edition version sold in 22-ounce bottles and and a 19.5 ABV limited edition version packaged in 22-ounce bottles.

Last month, the Wauconda, Ill.-based brewery signed a distribution agreement with Pabst Brewing Company to distribute Not Your Father’s Root Beer nationwide. The soda-inspired beer has grown in popularity recently, and was already sold in 30 states before the agreement was made.

An email sent to the brewery for additional details was not immediately returned.
