You have heard of Dawn of the Dead, but now Ninkasi Brewing Co. is bringing you Dawn of the Red.
The Eugene, Ore.-based brewery has announced that the 7 percent ABV “India red ale” will be joining its year-round Flagship Series, and incorporates ahtanum, El Dorado, Galena, millennium and mosaic hops along with five different types of malts. Dawn of the Red was originally released under the Rare & Delicious Series before being moved to the brewery’s Special Release series in 2014.
“The idea for this beer was to make a super drinkable, hoppy beer with a touch of caramel malt to bring some dryness and malt-flavor into the finish,” said Jamie Floyd, Ninkasi brewer and co-founder, in a press release.
Dawn of the Red joins six other year-round Flagship Series beers for Ninkasi: Total Domination IPA (6.7 percent ABV), Tricerahops double IPA (8 percent ABV), Lux German-style helles lager (5 percent ABV), Oatis oatmeal stout (7 percent ABV), Vanilla Oatis oatmeal stout (7 percent ABV) and Quantum pale ale (5.6 percent ABV.)
According to the press release, Dawn of the Red will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles both in six packs and variety packs, 22-ounce bottles and on draft, and will be available starting Feb. 15 until mid-December. The beer will be sent to the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington as well as Alberta, Canada and Vancouver, British Columbia.
