Fans of The Hobbit and other classic Middle Earth tales by J.R.R. Tolkien now have a beer to call their own.
That beer is Night Shift Brewing Elevensies, an 8.5 percent ABV Baltic porter that has been aged in apple brandy barrels. The base beer is the Everett, Mass.- based brewery’s Second Breakfast, an 8.4 percent ABV Baltic porter that was first released in early 2015.
The name Elevensies is a reference to one of the six meals that members of the mythical hobbit race from J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings books partake in every day, although the book version is spelled Elevenses.
According to a press release, Elevensies will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($16) and will be released at the brewery on Jan. 17 start at 11 a.m.
