After experimenting with both raspberries and toasted chilies this year, New Holland Brewing Co. will be expanding its Reserve Series next year.
The Holland, Mich.-based brewery will release four different versions of its popular Dragon’s Milk bourbon barrel stout next year, each with different adjuncts added. The four confirmed releases for 2015 are: Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Toasted Chilies, Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Raspberries, Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Coffee & Chocolate and Dragon’s Milk Reserve Triple Mashed Bourbon Barrel Stout. Three of the four clock in at 11 percent ABV, while the Triple Mashed Bourbon Barrel measures 14 percent.
Neither the Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Toasted Chilies nor the Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Raspberries are new. The former was released back in the spring and the latter scheduled to be on shelves by the end of this month. As the name implies, the Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Raspberries is aged with raspberries in bourbon barrels for three months.
“We’re looking forward to releasing the raspberry reserve,” says Brett VanderKamp, president of New Holland, in a post on the brewery’s website. “And the 2015 releases will definitely be an exciting and busy time in the brewhouse. These small runs of Dragon’s Milk are both to satisfy the creativity of our brewers, but also the palates of our fans. We think both will be happy with the results.”
Dragon’s Milk was first released in 2001 as a single batch annual release, but has since expanded to become New Holland’s largest selling year-round beer.
According to the brewery, all four of the variants will be released at the same time in four packs of 12-ounce bottles, a departure from the 2014 releases, which were sold exclusively in 22-ounce bottles. The bottles will be available sometime in the month of Nov. 2015, and will be distributed to the brewery’s entire 25-state footprint.
