Next week, New Glarus Brewing Co. is releasing the next R&D Series beer for 2016.

The New Glarus, Wis.-based brewery’s newest beer is Champ du Blanc, a 10 percent ABV “fruited sour” that is a blend of aged sour blonde ale and Chardonnay grapes that was spontaneously fermented in the brewery’s Wild Fruit Cave “through the winters of 2015 and 2016.”. The beer was brewed in Nov. 2015 and bottled in May.

Champ du Blanc is the second of three different beers in the brewery’s R&D Series to be sold this year, with the final beer scheduled to be released on Sept. 23. The first beer in this year’s series was Vintage 2015 (5 percent ABV) that was released on June 10.

According to a post on New Glarus’ Facebook page, R&D Champ du Blanc will be packaged in 500ml bottles ($10) and will be available at the brewery starting on Aug. 12, with a two bottle per person per day limit.
