Next weekend, New Glarus Brewing Co. will be releasing the final R&D Series beer of 2017.

Champ Rouge is a 10 percent ABV fruited sour-style beer that has been “spontaneously fermented in our coolship and blended with New York Rougeon grapes.” A label posted on New Glarus, Wis.-based brewery’s Instagram page indicates that the beer was brewed in Oct. 2016 and bottled in April of this year.

Champ Rouge is the final of three different beers in the brewery’s R&D Series to be sold this year: the first beer in this year’s series was Sour Porter (6.25 percent ABV) that was released on June 9 followed by Vintage 2016 (5 percent ABV) that was released on Aug. 11.

R&D Champ Rouge will be packaged in 500ml bottles ($15) and will be available at the brewery starting on Sept. 22, with a two bottle per person per day limit.
