There will be two new additions to New Glarus Brewing Co.’s most popular series next month.

The first new beer will be Vintage 2018, a 6.1 percent ABV “hazy sour blonde” ale brewed with aged hops and local wheat before being aged in oak barrels; while the second release will be 2019 Sour Blackberry, a 6.5 percent ABV sour blackberry ale that was “spontaneously fermented in the lambic tradition” conditioned on “aged Oregon Marion berries” and aged in oak barrels.

The two new beers will be the second and third releases in the brewery’s R&D Series to be sold this year, after Summer Sour, a 7 percent ABV spontaneously fermented ale brewed with three-year-old hops and aged in oak tanks with organic peaches, was released last month.

According to a post on New Glarus’ Instagram page, R&D 2019 Sour Blackberry and Vintage 2018 will both be packaged in 500ml bottles ($15) and will each have a two bottle per person per day limit when they are released exclusively at the brewery starting on Aug. 9.
