This year marks the 20th time that New Belgium Brewing Co. has released its signature sour beer.

The Fort Collins, Colo.-based brewery has released La Folie 2017, a 7 percent ABV flanders-style sour brown ale aged in 13 wood foeders between one and three years that was blended together to make the final beer. The sour ale debuted in 1997 and is part of New Belgium’s Lips of Faith Series.

“We’ve been blending and experimenting with sour wood beers for two decades and as the name La Folie implies it’s always with a touch of eccentric madness,” said Bryan Simpson, New Belgium spokesman, in a press release. “We combine multiple barrels based on continual tasting to create a combination that is just right. Once again, the crew nailed it this year.”

According to a press release, La Folie 2017 is packaged in 22-ounce bottles and is available now throughout New Belgium’s distribution network.
