A new release from New Belgium Brewing Co. incorporates an ingredient from a classic Belgium brewery.
The beer is Le Kriek Noir, a 7.3 percent ABV blend of Kriek lambic from Brouwerij Oud Beersel in Belgium and the Fort Collins, Colo.-based brewery’s 2016 Transatlantique Kriek. Those two beers were then blended with a single foeder of dark shout beer before aging it in the original red wine barrels that the brewery started its sour program with back in 1998 for 36 months.
According to labels filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Le Kriek Noir will be packaged in both 750ml and 375ml bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional release date and distribution information was not immediately returned.
