Tenth and Blake Beer Co., the craft and import division of MillerCoors, has announced an agreement to buy a majority interest in Terrapin Beer Co. of Athens, Ga.

According to the press release, Terrapin will be run as a separate business unit of Tenth and Blake, and all employees will be retained in their current positions. Tenth and Blake had previously purchased a minority stake in Terrapin in 2012.

“Bringing Tenth and Blake on years ago allowed us to get to know each other better and realize the incredible potential of becoming a majority-owned partner with Tenth and Blake and MillerCoors,” said Brian “Spike” Buckowski, Terrapin Beer Co. co-founder and vp of brewing development.

“With Tenth and Blake’s dedication to helping us grow and their passion for creating high-quality craft beers, we knew it would be the perfect partnership. We look forward to continuing to create innovative beers to share with beer lovers nationwide.”

Terrapin was founded in 2002 by Bukowski and John Cochran and now includes an 84,00-square-foot brewery as well as a 100 barrel brewhouse.

Tenth and Blake has numerous other brands in its portfolio, including Blue Moon Brewing Co., Crispin Cider Co., Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. and Saint Archer Brewing Co., which it purchased in Sept. 2015.

While the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, the deal is expected to be complete in August.
