Most serious beer drinkers and brewers know that stouts are best in the morning and to this end, many are infused with coffee, oats, and other breakfast-y ingredients. Mikkeller AB began the coffee stout trend with its Beer Geek Breakfast years ago.

They have steadily released different variations of this award winning stout, nearing 20 different varieties from latte to decaf.

The Danish brewery will make its bourbon Barreled Aged Beer Geek Breakfast available in the U.S. later this year according to a recent label approved by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). This batch was brewed and aged in bourbon barrels in collaboration with Nøgne ø Brewery in Grimstad, Norway and will be available in 11.2-ounce bottles.

Beer Geek Breakfast is an oatmeal stout brewed with 25 percent oats based ingredients and coffee, but this release is further aged in bourbon barrels. This process results in a nice 7.5 percent ABV stout.
