The one thousandth recipe to be brewed at De Proefbrouwerij belonged to Mikkeller, so the company decided to commemorate the occasion with not one, but two beers.
Both new releases use the same base beer that comes in at 9 percent ABV and both will be named Recipe 1000, but each is unique, with one ale having been aged in chardonnay wine barrels for 1,000 days and the other aged in sauternes wine barrels for 1,000 days. According to a post on the Denmark-based company’s website, the beers were brewed and aged at De Proefbrouwerij in Belgium.
According to Pernille Pang, public relations manager for Mikkeller, Recipe 1000 will be packaged in 12.7-ounce bottles and are scheduled to be released “soon,” with a possibility of early March. In addition, there will be approximately 4,000 bottles of each beer released to distribution, although exact details for distribution have not been finalized yet.
