A variant of Mikerphone Brewing’s most popular stouts may now be getting smaller brother, in more ways than one.

According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), that beer is Smells Like Bean Spirit Special Roast Bowline Blend, an 8 percent ABV stout brewed with maple syrup and coffee sourced from Tugboat Coffee in Addison, Ill. that will be packaged in 12-ounce cans.

The Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based brewery released a 10.5 percent ABV imperial version of the same beer in December 2019 that incorporated “a special blend of Sumatra Blue Batak and Natural Ethiopian Guji coffee beans from Tugboat Coffee”, but that incarnation was packaged in 750ml bottles.

An email sent to the brewery seeking additional detail was not immediately returned.
