For the second time, Martin House Brewing Co. and Best Maid Pickles are joining forces on a sour ale that combines ingredients from both companies.
According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), that creation is Spicy Pickle Beer, a 4.7 percent ABV ale that will be packaged in 12-ounce cans.
This is the second time that the two companies have collaborated, after Sour Pickle Beer, a 5.5 percent ABV sour beer base mixed with sour pickle juice sourced from Best Maid was released in August.
In addition to that beer, there have been multiple recent examples of breweries combining a sour base and pickles or pickle juice: Deschutes Brewery released Dill Pickle Sour last year, Minnesota-based Barley John’s Brewing Co. released Dill Pickle Pale Ale last year and Tampa Bay, Fla.-based Brew Bus Brewing poured samples of Tummy Sticks Leipzig-syle gose conditioned on dill pickles during the 2017 Great American Beer Festival.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
