They are about a month later than expected, but fans of Live Oak Brewing’s Pilz can finally buy it in cans on shelves.
According to a post on the Austin, Texas-based brewery’s Instagram page, six-packs of 12-ounce cans of the 4.7 percent ABV pilsner have shipped to retailers. The beer was first released in 2003, and has been a draft-only option until now.
In January, Live Oak released its first beer in cans, the 5.3 percent ABV Hefeweizen that was also first sold in 2003. According to Chris Cherry, distribution manager for Live Oak, the brewery’s Big Bark Amber Lager (4.9 percent ABV) will be the third beer to be packaged in 12-ounce cans.
