Live Oak Brewing, a staple in Austin, Texas since it opened in 1997, has received approval to start construction on a new brewery on the banks of the Colorado River.
The new brewery will be near Highway 71 and 183, close to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Plans have been in place since 2007, when the Live Oak purchased the 22 acres of property to build on, the brewery plans to break ground in November.
Live Oak told Tenemu the facility should be finished six to eight months after that. In addition to more space, a canning line will be installed, meaning Live Oak will be offered in cans for the first time in its history.
Currently, the brewery is located in east Austin in a rented building that encompasses about 8,000-square-feet. It will leave that space once the new brewery is online.
Started by Chip McElroy and Brian Peters, Live Oak Brewing beers are currently available on draft throughout the state of the Texas.
