For the second year in a row, Lakewood Brewing Co. is releasing The Witch for a great cause.

The Witch is an 11 percent ABV barrel aged milk stout that combines different aspects of two different beers that the Garland, Texas-based brewery already brews. The base beer is Lakewood’s Bourbon Barrel Temptress, a 9.8 percent stout aged in bourbon barrels for about eight months, that was then combined with Dallas-based Noble Coyote Coffee Roaster’s Barking Dog espresso beans as well as the blend of pumpkin pie spices Lakewood uses in its Punkel dunkel (5.5 percent ABV), including cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. According to Craig Bradley, marketing and events manager at Lakewood, the beer conditioned on the coffee beans and spices for “only a couple of weeks.”

The beer is once again being released at Booktoberfest, an event hosted by Lakewood and Room to Read: Dallas – Fort Worth Chapter, a nonprofit that advocates literacy and gender equality in education. While this is the third Booktoberfest, it is only the second year The Witch has been released.

The Witch will be on tap at Lakewood Brewing tomorrow during the Booktoberfest event from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
