Lakewood Brewing Co. has some big changes for the new year, including new beers and a number of offerings being retired.
First, the Garland, Texas-based brewery will be retiring three of its year-round releases: Hop Trapp Belgian-style IPA, Hypochondria session IPA and Goatman imperial black lager. In their place will be the new Lakewood IPA, a 7 percent ABV IPA brewed with Bravo, Citra, Mosaic, and Mandarina hops that will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce cans and available starting in March.
In the brewery’s seasonal rotation, Both Punkel and Holiday Bonus porter are being retired for two new, limited seasonal releases: Artsy Tartsy Berliner-style weisse brewed with black currants and Cold Front IPA. Both are packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and will be available on retailers’ shelves in August and November respectively.
Lakewood’s Seduction Series will also see some major changes, with Raspberry Temptress, Mole Temptress and Sin Mint Temptress being retired. However, French Quarter Temptress will be released early in mid-January and Coconut Temptress will return March, followed by two new to be announced variants in the series that will be shipped in August and November.
In addition, there will be four new special releases throughout the year for Lakewood, two of which will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and two that will be draft-only offerings.

- Lion’s Share VI — blended, barrel-aged strong ale packaged in 22-ounce bottles — August
- Tennessee Temptress — Temptress milk stout aged in Jack Daniels whiskey barrels released exclusively on draft — June
- Jack’d Up Lemonale — ale aged in Jack Daniels whiskey barrels released exclusively on draft — June
Finally, as has been the case since 2013, the 2018 incarnation of Bourbon Barrel Temptress will return packaged in 22-ounce bottles in December.
