Just days after announcing that Heineken was purchasing 50 percent of the company, Lagunitas Brewing Co. has some more news, albeit, not as big.
This time the announcement is a new beer, Doppel Sticky, a 7.7 percent ABV “double altbier”dry-hopped with enigma hops from Australia “in the traditional-ish style of the Doppelsticke, which is the widely known secret Germanic-esque strong ale.” According to the Lagunitas website, the beer is fermented at a lower temperature “to pull out the sulphur-y bite from the yeast.”
The new double altbier is the third bottle release in Lagunitas’ OneHitter Series this year, joining High Westified Coffee Stout (12 percent ABV) which was released in March and CitruSinensis Pale Ale (7.9 percent ABV) which was released in June.
According to Lagunitas, Doppel Sticky will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and will be released Sept. 15. The brewery describes the release as highly limited.”
