Karl Strauss Brewing Co. thinks they have the cure for peanut butter lovers, announcing that for the first time, it will be bottling its award-winning Peanut Butter Cup Porter.
Originally brewed for the 2012 San Diego Beer Week and released only on draft, the brewery has more than doubled the production of the limited release porter in order to accommodate the bottling ahead of its release on Oct. 27.
“We sold out of this beer in about a week last year, so to meet surging demand we brewed a larger batch this time around,” said Paul Segura, Karl Strauss Brewing Company brewmaster, in a press release. “It’s amazing to see how this beer has been embraced by our fans and we’re excited to release it across the state.”
The 5.6 percent porter incorporates cocoa nibs, Palisade hops as well as Carapils, caramel 40, caramel 60, chocolate and brown malts, finishing with 30 IBUs.
“Nothing goes better with chocolate than peanut butter, so we decided to marry those two flavors in this fun, decadent beer… We use a blend of chocolate malts, caramel malts and cocoa nibs to create a robust rich dark chocolate flavored porter and we add in all-natural ingredients for layers of smooth peanut butter.”
