After an almost two year hiatus, Jester King Brewery will be releasing a new blend of RU-55 on Friday.
The 7.3 percent ABV barrel-aged sour farmhouse red ale is brewed with Munich, 2-row, pilsner, carared, crystal and melanoidin malts, as well as roasted barley and golding hops. In addition, a portion of the newest blend was aged in the same sherry barrels that were used to age the Austin, Texas-based brewery’s collaboration with Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project and Brasserie Trois Dames, Cerveza Sin Frontera.
RU-55 was first released in 2012, and was last sold in 2014.
According to post on Jester King’s Facebook page, RU-55 will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($16) and there will be no bottle purchased limit when it goes on sale on Feb. 26 at the brewery. Approximately 4,800 bottles will be available.
