It has been about 15 months since the last release, but fans of Jester King Brewery’s Ol’ Oi will be able to purchase it again starting tomorrow.
Although it is a new batch, the beer will remain the same 6.5 percent ABV barrel-aged sour brown ale brewed with golding hops as well as Munich, abbey , wheat, caramunich and chocolate malts. The beer was first released by the Austin, Texas-based brewery in 2011, and the last release was at the tail end of 2014.
“In Britain, what started out as young or ‘mild’ dark ale was once aged in oak barrels to make beer that was likely similar to sour brown ales of East Flanders,” reads the Jester King website. “Using a similar base recipe to Commercial Suicide Farmhouse Mild Ale, Ol’ Oi is our tribute to that tradition.”
According to a tweet on Jester King’s Twitter account, the newest incarnation of Ol’ Oi will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($16) and will go on sale at the brewery starting April 1 with no purchase limit and 5,000 bottles available.
