Starting today, Jester King Brewery will be releasing a brand new variant of one of its most popular creations.

That beer is 2018 SPON Texas Plum & Nectarine, a 5.3 percent ABV blend of one- and two-year-old 100 percent spontaneously fermented beer from 2016 and 2017 that as been refermented on three different fruits from Texas farms: Bruce sour plums from Lightsey Farms in Mexia; Morris plums from Engel Farms in Stonewall; and white nectarines from Cooper Farms in Fairfield.

As the name indicates, the base beer is Jester King’s SPON, a 100 percent spontaneously fermented beer that was first sold in 2016.

“For this blend, we racked one and two year old beer out of oak and added it to 450 lbs. of sour plums, 100 lbs. of plums, and 400 lbs. of nectarines for refermentation,” reads a post on Jester King’s Facebook page. “With our SPON beers, as well as for everything we brew, our aim is to create something uniquely tied to a cross-section of time, place, and people, never to be repeated or duplicated again.”

According to Jester King, 2018 SPON Texas Plum & Nectarine will be packaged in 375ml bottles ($25) with only 719 bottles available when they go on sale at the brewery to ticket holders of Jester King’s Funk n’ Sour Fest 2018 with a purchase limit of one bottle per person per day. Any remaining bottles will then go on sale at the brewery during normal business hours staring on Oct. 26.
