Jester King Brewery’s most famous beer is being released this weekend and despite the fact that there is less to go around than last year, the purchase limit is the highest it has ever been.

The Austin-based brewery will be releasing 2018 Atrial Rubicite, a 5.5 percent ABV barrel-aged sour beer brewed with malted wheat and pilsner malts as well as golding hops before being refermented with raspberries in oak barrels for about six weeks.

Originally released in late August of 2013, Atrial Rubicite was Jester King’s first barrel-aged sour to incorporate fruit. Since then, there have been seven additional releases and the last incarnation was sold on July 21, 2017.

“For our 2018 blend, we racked 22 oak barrels of mature beer (about 1,320 gallons) onto 5,760 pounds of raspberries (4.4 pounds per gallon) in early April,” reads a post on Jester King’s Facebook page.

According to Jester King, 2018 Atrial Rubicite will be packaged in 500ml bottles ($20) and there will be a purchase limit of six bottles per person per day when it goes on sale on July 6, with approximately 6,500 bottles available. In addition, the brewery packaged approximately 100 1.5L bottles of the beer that will be sold via lottery at “sometime in the next few weeks.”
