After announcing that Garrett Crowell was leaving as head brewer yesterday, Jester King Brewery has named his replacement.
The new head brewer at the Austin-based brewery is Averie Swanson, the former brewery production manager. Swanson started with Jester King in February 2013 as a volunteer, eventually moving through the ranks to apprentice and brewer before being named the brewery production manager, where she oversaw the beer production, coordinated the brewing and fermentation schedule and managed barrel aging and blending, among other duties.
“She has displayed wonderful commitment, intelligence, ingenuity, and leadership along the way,” reads a post on Jester King’s website. “Her promotion is testament to the power of hard work and dedication. Overall, we could not be more pleased with the job Averie has done over the years at Jester King, and can not think of a more deserved and qualified person for this promotion.”
According to Jester King owner Jeffrey Stuffings, Crowell’s last day as head brewer is Dec. 21.
