Jester King Brewery and Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales have collaborated for the second time, and fans will be able to purchase the result starting today.
The Austin-based brewery will be releasing Gammalux, an 8.5 percent ABV “hop-dense farmhouse ale” brewed with Texas hill country well water, malted barley, rolled oats, malted wheat, talked barley, hops and a mixed culture of brewer’s yeast, native yeast and bacteria. The new ale was bottled in June.
This is the second time Jester King and Jolly Pumpkin have collaborated, after Space Waves, a 5.6 percent ABV farmhouse ale brewed with lime salt before being blended with Jester King’s Montmorency vs. Balaton (6.7 percent ABV) was released last August. In addition, Jolly Pumpkin sold its version of that beer named Olas Espaciales (5.8 percent ABV) earlier this year.
According to a post on Jester King’s website, Gammalux will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($14) and will be released Aug. 18 with no purchase limit. In addition, the brewery will also be selling the latest incarnation of El Cedro ($14), an 8 percent ABV farmhouse ale that is brewed with Cascade, Columbus and millennium hops before being aged with Spanish cedar spirals and dry-hopped with Citra hops.
