Austin-based Jester King Brewery and St. Pertersburg, Fla.-based Green Bench Brewing Co. have collaborated to create Beachtimez Sportzketball.
Beachtimez Sportzketball is a grisette-inspired farmhouse ale refermented on Texas loquats. The inspiration for this beer came from Jeffery Stuffings, the founder of Jester King, tasting Green Bench’s Les Grisettes for the first time last summer.
“We sought to achieve the wonderful, starchy, grainy malt complexity of their Grisette, along with its quenching, lactic sourness,” said Stuffings. “Beachtimez Sportzketball can be considered as an ode to Green Bench Les Grisettes, but with the local touch of Texas loquats.”
Beachtimez Sporuzketball was brewed on March 24, fermented in stainless steel, refermented in stainless steel on Texas loquats, and finally bottled on April 26. Since then, it has been allowed to condition in bottles, kegs, and casks. At the time of bottling, Beachtimez Sportzketball had an ABV of 4.5 percent and 26 IBUs.
Beachtimez Sportzketball will be released on Friday, June 24 at the Jester King tasting room at 4 p.m. It will be available by the glass and in 750ml bottles priced at $14 with no limit for the first weekend. With only around 3,000 bottles, it is unlikely Beachtimez Sportzketball will be available outside the tasting room, aside from special events.
