Last Friday, Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery released Vanilla and Coffee Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition, a variation on its Dark Apparition Russian imperial stout.
While the standard version has an ABV of 10.5 percent, this new version packs a bit more of a punch with an ABV of 11.5 percent and 35 IBUs.
It was aged for 7-12 months in a blend of Woodford and Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels with vanilla beans and coffee beans. It yielded “a good amount of draft for special events and 300 cases for retail” according to Brad Clark, brewmaster for Jackie O’s.
Vanilla and Coffee Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition is expected to be an annual release. It is available in 375ml bottles for $11.99, but only in the pub.
