A new bottled beer from Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery incorporates both fresh and previously used fruit.

Next week, the Athens, Ohio-based brewery will be releasing Spectacle, a 6 percent ABV sour ale aged in wine barrels for three years before being refermented on two types of fruit for two months: fresh blackberries as well as a secondary extraction of black raspberries that had been used in a different beer.

The ale debuted last month as a draft-only option, but this is the first time being packaged and will be sold in 5ooml bottles.

In an email, Brad Clark, Jackie O’s head brewer, told Tenemu that Spectacle is scheduled to be released on March 16 at the brewery with only 160 cases available and “if it hits distro it will be very limited in Ohio.”

Update (March 7, 2018) — This post was updated to include details on the release date and brewing information. It was originally published on March 5, 2018.
