Hoppin’ Frog Brewing Co.’s newest release is a variant of a beer named after its owner, Fred Karm.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Akron, Ohio-based brewery released Port Barrel Karminator, a 9.3 percent ABV imperial dopplebock lager that is brewed with Munich malts before being aged in port barrels.

“Extremely rich and malty German-style lager, so intense that its named after our founder!” reads the beer label. “Port Barrel Karminator Imperial Dopplebock Lager has a traditional double-bock flavor, brewed with an over-abundance of the absolute highest quality imported Munich malt to create an irresistible toasted barley flavor, with hints of caramel and toffee and then aged in port barrels.”

Port Barrel Karminator is the first variant of the base beer, Karminator imperial dopplebock lager, that was first released in 2013.

According to the brewery, the new limited beer is packaged in 22-ounce bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional distribution and pricing details was not immediately returned.
