In 2015, Cigar City Brewing visited Hill Farmstead Brewery to collaborate on two different beers, and the second of those creations is going on sale today.

That beer is Works of Love: City Cigar 2015 is a “Farmstead Ale” brewed with American malted barley, wheat, oats and hops with a wort that was cooled in the brewery’s coolship for 48 hours. The wort was then inoculated with lager yeast and aged in French oak barrels for “nearly 14 months.”

The first joint effort between the two breweries was Works of Love: Cigar City Brewing, a Belgian-inspired brown ale fermented in an oak tank before being aged in wine barrels that was released in 2016.

The Works of Love Series beers are meant to showcase “collaborations at Hill Farmstead with friends,” and past releases have included:

  • Works of Love: Earl Grey Tea — A 3.7 percent ABV American blonde ale dry-hopped with Amarillo, Citra and Centennial hops.
  • Works of Love: De Molen — Imperial stout aged in 25-year-old bourbon barrels for 20 months.
  • Works of Love: Brasserie Thiriez — Barrel-fermented wheat and oat ale that aged in oak barrels for 20 months.
  • Works of Love: Anchorage Brewing Co. — Ale fermented freshly chopped apples.

According to a post on Hill Farmstead’s website, Works of Love: City Cigar 2015 is packaged in 750ml bottles ($30) and will have a three bottle per person purchase limit when it goes on sale today.
