Next month will bring the first release is Heavy Seas Beer’s Partner Ships Series for 2017, this time with neighbor Union Craft Brewing in Baltimore, Md.

The two breweries joined forces to create Olde Ale, a 8.5 percent ABV olde ale brewed with English malts as well as brown sugar sourced from Baltimore-based Domino Sugar. The ale was brewed at Heavy Seas on Dec. 15, 2016.

Olde Ale will be the first release in Heavy Seas’ The Partner Ships for this year, a series of collaborations with different breweries around the county that debuted in 2016 and eventually came to encompass four different releases. According to Heavy Seas, there will be a total of three beers in the brewery’s series for this year: Olde Ale with Union Craft Brewing as well as a release with Tampa, Fla.-based Cigar City Brewing that is scheduled to be released in July and a final release with Cincinnati, Ohio-based MadTree Brewing Co.that should be shipping to retailers in November.

According to Christine Shaffer, pr and communications coordinator for Heavy Seas, Olde Ale will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and will be sent to retailers across Heavy Seas’ entire distribution footprint sometime in February.
