Heavy Seas Beer announced recently via Instagram that its Red Sky at Morning will be making a comeback.

Red Sky at Morning is a Belgian-style saison aged in Chardonnay barrels and part of the Uncharted Waters Series. First brewed last year, Red Sky at Morning has a 10 percent ABV and is based on Heavy Seas’ Red Sky at Night. The biggest changes came in the form of increasing the percentage of sugar in the boil, increasing the hop flavor, and using a different yeast that produced spicier esters.

“Nothing has changed about the recipe, packaging, or distribution,” said Fred Crudder, director of marketing & hospitality for Heavy Seas. “As a barrel-aged beer though, changes do occur year to year based on the personalities of the barrels. The beer was packaged [July 21], and preliminary tastes indicate that it will be our favorite Red Sky ever.”

Red Sky at Morning will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and the release party will be at the Baltimore, Md.-based brewery’s tap room on Thursday, Aug. 11.
