Harpoon Brewery’s latest 100 Barrel Series release takes its inspiration from a famous brand of cymbals.
Secret Alloy Ale is a 7.2 percent ABV pale ale brewed with Centennial and Equinox hops as well as an 80/20 split of caramel malts which gives the beer its caramel color.
“Behind a locked door in the Zildjian factory in Norwell, MA lies the secret ingredient that creates the most revered cymbals in the world,” reads the label for the new beer. “80% copper, 20% tin, and a little bit of silver-only a hand l of people know that extra ingredient that makes it Zildjian. A nod to Zildjian’s recipe, this beer is brewed with an 80/20 split of caramel malts.”
Secret Alloy Ale is the latest release in the Boston-based brewery’s 100 Barrel Series, which started in 2003 to “showcase the individual brewing talents of its employees.”
According to the beer label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Secret Alloy Ale will be packaged n 22-ounce bottles. An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
