The first release in Goose Island Beer Co.’s newest series will be shipped to retailers next month.
The beer is Cooper Project 1: Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale, an 8.7 percent ABV Scotch ale aged in bourbon barrels for four months before being bottled. It will be the first release in the Chicago-based brewery’s Cooper Project, which is made up exclusively of barrel-aged releases and includes two other beers that will be shipped before the end of the year: Cooper Project No. 2: Barrel-Aged Blonde Doppelbock aged for three months in bourbon barrels and Cooper Project No. 3: Barrel-Aged Porter aged for three months in bourbon barrels.
According to a post on Goose Island’s Facebook page, Cooper Project 1: Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles that are expected to have “limited distribution in select cities throughout the states” and are scheduled begin shipping “sometime in March.”
