For the second year in a row, a small number of lucky fans of Goose Island Beer Co. will have the chance to try multiple versions of its Bourbon County Brand Stout a week earlier than the rest of the country.
The Chicago-based brewery is holding a lottery for 2017 Proprietor’s Day, an event that will allow a select few to try at least two different incarnations of its popular stout: Proprietor’s Bourbon County Brand Stout 2017, an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with bananas, roasted almonds and cassia bark, and Bourbon County Brand Stout Reserve 2017, an imperial stout aged in freshly emptied barrels that previously held Knob Creek bourbon.
Attendees to the event taking place on Nov. 19 will also have the option to purchase two bottles of Proprietor’s as well as one bottle of Bourbon County Brand Stout Reserve 2017. Last year’s event featured a number of different versions of Bourbon County Brand Stout on tap, including Proprietor’s Bourbon County Brand Stout 2016, Proprietor’s Bourbon County Brand Stout 2014 and Bourbon County Brand Stout 2016, as well as the option to purchase select vintage Bourbon County Stout releases.
Starting on Oct. 9, fans can enter the lottery once daily online until 11:59pm CST on Oct. 16 at the Goose Island Proprietor’s Day website, with winners randomly chosen and notified on October 18. Winners will then have up to 48 hours to claim and purchase their tickets for $30, and attendees can pick up their bottles during four different pick up slots on Nov. 19.
According to the Goose Island website, winners of the tickets to Proprietor’s Day 2017 will receive:
- The option to obtain two tickets to the event
- Five tokens for three-ounce pours of 2017 Bourbon County variant samples or 12-ounce pours of Old Man Grumpy
- Commemorative Prop Day tote bag
- The option to purchase two bottles of Bourbon County Proprietor’s 2017 as well as one bottle of Bourbon County Brand Stout Reserve 2017
- A commemorative 2017 Proprietor’s Day snifter glass
In June, Goose Island released details about seven different incarnations of its popular Bourbon County Brand Stout, including Bourbon County Brand Northwoods Stout 2017, Bourbon County Brand Stout Reserve 2017 and Bourbon County Brand Barleywine Ale Reserve 2017.
