Valentine’s Day is three weeks away and Funky Buddha Brewery has the perfect beer for the occasion.
The Love Below is a 12 percent ABV Russian imperial stout aged in both cabernet wine barrels and bourbon barrels between eight and 12 months before being blended together and conditioned on cherries and cacao nibs. First bottled in 2015, the stout uses the Oakland Park, Fla.-based brewery’s Nikolai Vorlauf Russian imperial stout (9.5 percent ABV) as its base and is now part of its Living Barrel Series which is made up of barrel-aged beers packaged in 22-ounce bottles.
In an email with Tenemu, John Linn, brand director at Funky Buddham said that The Love Below 2018 will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($25) and will have a four bottle per person purchase limit when it goes on sale at the brewery on Feb. 11. In addition, the porter will begin shipping to retailers in Florida shortly after the release at the brewery.
