Fans of Funky Buddha Brewery’s Last Buffalo In The Park 2017 have just five more weeks to wait.
As with previous incarnations, this year’s version is an 11.5 percent ABV imperial porter brewed with coconut and roasted coffee. In an email with Tenemu, John Linn, brand director at Funky Buddha, said that this year’s version was aged in barrels that previously held Buffalo Trace bourbon for approximately eight months before being bottled.
Last Buffalo In The Park is the barrel-aged version of Oakland Park, Fla.-based brewery’s Last Snow imperial porter (6.4 percent ABV), which is released every year in February and September. In addition, Last Buffalo In The Park was originally brewed in collaboration with Park Tavern in Delray Beach, Fla.
According to Linn, Last Buffalo In The Park 2017 will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($25) and will “likely” have a six bottle per person purchase limit when it goes on sale at the brewery on Dec. 3. In addition, the imperial porter will be available at retailers in Florida starting on Dec. 4.
In August, Funky Buddha was acquired by Constellation Brands, Inc. as part of its Craft & Specialty Beer Group, which also includes Ballast Point Brewing Co.
