One of Funky Buddha Brewery’s most popular creations is just two weeks away.
The beer is Morning Wood 2017, a 12 percent ABV imperial porter brewed with coffee, maple syrup and smoked salt before being aged in a number of barrels that previously held Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace bourbon. Morning Wood is the barrel-aged version of Funky Buddha’s Wide Awake It’s Morning, which in turn is the imperial version of the brewery’s Maple Bacon Coffee Porter.
In an email with Tenemu, John Linn, brand director at Funky Buddha said that the Oakland Park, Fla.-based brewery did not produce significantly more of the porter than last year, ending up with approximately 120 bbls total.
According to Linn, Morning Wood 2017 will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($25) and will have a six bottle per person purchase limit when it goes on sale at the brewery on Oct. 15. In addition, the porter will begin shipping to retailers in Florida “shortly after” the release at the brewery.
In August, Funky Buddha was acquired by Constellation Brands, Inc. as part of its Craft & Specialty Beer Group, which also includes Ballast Point Brewing Co.
