As Cinco de Mayo approaches, there’s no better time for Funky Buddha Brewery to rerelease a stout meant to commemorate the occasion.
Mexican Coffee is an 11.3 percent ABV imperial stout blended with coffee and cinnamon before being aged in Jose Cuervo reposado tequila barrels for an “extended” amount of time. The stout was released for the first time in April 2017.
“The inspiration behind Mexican Coffee was to brew a beer much like the classic cafe Mexicano,” reads a post on the Oakland Park, Fla.-based brewery’s website. “These Mexican-style coffee elixirs are warm cocktail that combines coffee and cinnamon with a touch of Tequila and usually topped off with sweet cream.”
According to Funky Buddha, Mexican Coffee 2018 will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($25) with purchase limits to be determined closer to the release on April 29. While most of this year’s batch will be sold in Funky Buddha’s taproom, an “extremely limited” number of bottles will see distribution at select retailers.
An email sent to the brewery for further information was not returned.
