Cigar City Brewing will be teaming up with three other breweries to release a new beer to honor a special friend.

A Beer Named Sue is a weisse brewed with prickly pear made in honor of the late Sue Muntner, “a wonderful friend and supporter of Craft beer in Tampa Bay.” According to the beer label, the weisse is a style that she “championed” and people should enjoy it in a snifter, “the only appropriate glassware for toasting Sue.”

Muntner passed away at age 53 last June due to complications from lung cancer.

The new beer is a collaboration between Cigar City, 7venth Sun Brewing Co. in Dunedin, Cycle Brewing in St. Petersburg and J. Wakefield Brewing in Miami, but is being brewed at Cigar City’s facilities in Tampa. According to filings with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), A Beer Named Sue will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles.

According to Cigar City, ABV and release details have not been finalized as of yet because the beer itself has not been brewed.
